Local information

Frenaros
Frenaros is a small, quiet and tranquil place in the “red soil” area of Famagusta. It is on the East Coast of the island, approximately 50 kilomteres from Larnaca airport. The village of Frenaros has its own small Byzantine churches, two of them, the Ayios Andronikos and the Archangelos Michail date back to the 12th century. The church of Ayia Marina has some interesting frescoes painted by different artists. A traditional Cypriot village with its inherent charm and hospitality, centrally located. This is the perfect place for you if you prefer a quiet, peaceful holiday away from the hustle and bustle, but just 3 minutes from Famagusta,5 minutes from Ayia Thekla. Ayia Napa with Protaras with their clubs, discos, pubs and restaurants are both just 10 minutes away. You are only 5 minutes away from bars and traditional Cypriot restaurants in the village and neighbouring villages of Sotira and Dherynia. The traditional Cypriot town of Paralimni is 5kms away.
Protaras
This is a more tranquil resort compared to Ayia Napa even though it is only 10 minutes away by car. Protaras is situated between Cape Greco and the village of Paralimni and boasts the fabulous Fig Tree Bay, which stretches over 10 miles of sandy Beach. While lying on the beach you will have the opportunity to decide which of Protaras' many restaurants you will try that evening. Protaras is the place to try freshly grilled fish in one of the open-air seafood restaurants or take a pick from the several types of cuisine including Thai, Italian, Indian and many others. Protaras also offers a good choice of shops, tavernas, nightclubs and bars.

Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa, located southeast of the islands coast, is reputable for its tourist resort all over Europe. It is one of Cyprus's most popular beach resorts. Normally the little village has less than 1000 inhabitants, but during summer season it hosts more than 10.000 tourists per day. The beaches are awesome with thin and fine sand, hidden among a chain of rocky boulders that form many small and cosy bays. The main centre of the district is Paralimni, 3 miles north of Ayia Napa itself. East of the village is Protaras, known for its lively nightlife and partyful people.
Just in the centre of Ayia Napa you 'll find  a spectacular monastery at the entrance of an old fig tree. In the court an octagonal fountain which has on its base the founder of the monastery  a woman's portrait as well as her mother and father whom they have forbidden her to marry.
Ayia Napa has cleaned up it's alternative Ibiza reputation recently and is now much more family orientated.
